The Plum Creek Watershed Partnership: Assessing our Progress set for February 13 at Lockhart State Park

LOCKHART - The Plum Creek Watershed Partnership (Partnership) welcomes the public to learn more about the achievements and hindrances impacting water quality in the Plum Creek watershed and local communities on February 13 at the Lockhart State Park Recreation Hall.

The park is located at 4179 State Park Road and Farm-to-Market Road 20, west of U.S. Highway 183 in Lockhart.

Sign-in begins at 6:00 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. A barbeque dinner will be provided for attendees. RSVPs are appreciated but not required.

Presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m. Plum Creek watershed coordinator, Nick Dornak, will provide an overview of current events and activities involving the Partnership. Key topics include Keep Lockhart Beautiful, feral hog abatement programs and water quality impacts from wastewater facilities. Caldwell-Travis Soil and Water Conservation District Technician, Troy Freeman, will discuss Water Quality Management Planning in the Plum Creek watershed. Lee Gudgell with the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority will present current trends in water quality data for the watershed. The meeting will conclude with an open roundtable discussion with members of the Partnership Steering Committee.

"After this meeting, we should have a far greater understanding of how far we have come as a partnership and the challenges that lie ahead," said Dornak.

Funding for the development and support of the Plum Creek Watershed Protection Plan is through a Clean Water Act grant provided by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
