Project Goals/Objectives: The purpose of this project is to develop appropriate and standardized quality assurance/quality control and standard operating procedures (SOP) for use of the Mehlich III soil test extractant.
Project Background: The tasks of this project are to: (1) Conduct post-SOP sample exchanges with multiple laboratories conducting soil testing for Texans; (2) expand the soil sample base of the North American Proficiency Testing (NAPT) program laboratory quality assurance program or similar proficiency/certification programs recognized by Texas AgriLife Extension Service Soil, Water and Forage Testing Laboratory; and (3) utilize a web-based format to publish and provide easy access to the SOP for the Mehlich III soil test and information, guidance and linkage to the NAPT program and similar acceptable programs.
