“The TWON program was established to help well owners become familiar with Texas groundwater resources, septic system maintenance, well maintenance and construction, and water quality and treatment,” he said. “It allows them to learn more about how to improve and protect their community water resources.”
Water samples will be screened for contaminants, including total coliform bacteria, E. coli, nitrate-nitrogen and salinity and in some counties arsenic.
Parmer, Castro, Swisher, Briscoe, Bailey, Lamb, Hale and Floyd County residents will have samples dropped off at the local County Extension office between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16th.
Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Garza and Dawson County residents will have samples dropped off at the local County Extension office between 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17th.
There will be one hour programs that cover well head protection, water quality issues and results from the water samples. on September 18th in various locations. For the locations, please visit https://twon.tamu.edu. For more information on the water screening contact Pigg at j-piggtamu.edu.
